About the role

The Senior Designer’s role is to craft excellent creative work across projects of all scales of complexity, being fully accountable for the final client output. This is a role that is obsessive with craft and storytelling, understanding that what makes great work is how it comes to life in the details.

You have a sensitivity to tone that gives you the ability to express different ways of seeing, and navigate the subtle qualities required to craft distinct visual worlds, from design to art direction. The aesthetics you create express a unique vision that translates a strategic positioning. Day to day you manage time and communicate well, and work both autonomously and with the support of a team, reporting in to the ACD or the Design Director depending on the projects. No silos.

Essential Functions

• Translate a strategic brand narrative and foundation, into a relevant, authentic, and stand-out brand identity.
• Explore a wide variety of directions and create complex brand identity systems that are mindful of a multidisciplinary approach: Design, Strategy, Copywriting, Digital, Photography, Illustration, Motion, etc.
• Design packaging systems that are reflective of and elevate the brand world they stem from.
• Research across a vast range of unexpected inspirations from in and beyond the world of design, art, fashion, architecture, historical archives, and the everyday to allow the unexpected to happen, and thoughtful solutions to arise.
• Excellent strategic articulation, confident, inspiring & optimistic in presenting work to clients, taking them on a journey with a strong ability of storytelling.
• Contribute to, organize, build, and participate in brand workshops, competitive analysis and audits with applied strategic thinking and point of view.
• Lead photoshoots, from pre-prod to post-prod, making/leading recommendations for creative vendors with the sign-off of your director. Lead clear, detailed & inspiring briefs for various vendors as required across photography, stylists, casting, etc. for approval.
• Support with case study creation and production, pushing the quality of the output, the Wedge Way.
• Lead small teams on your projects and give constructive direction and guidance to the designers working with you in support of the Director’s vision and feedback.
